I picked up two and a half yards of this dreamy floral cotton, the very last of the bolt, at Treadle Yard Goods, and was determined to use every last inch of it. The easiest way to do that? Something with lots of big triangles! I cut the length into three width-wide sections and brought it all together in a full pleated skirt.
The front has two knife pleats then one large box pleat on either side. Deep inside the box pleats are two large pockets, big enough for a phone, wallet, and keys!
The back has deep knife pleats and a box pleat down the center back, and the whole thing has enough length and volume to wear with or without my tulle tutu skirt.
It’s just ladylike and sweet enough to pair with slightly harder-edged items, or, like I’ve done here, just embrace the saccharine and go for it with stripes, pearls, and candy-colored shoes. I also used a coordinating cotton with a gold diamond pattern for the pockets, back button, and hem facing.
Just gorgeous! I love the material, your pattern choice, POCKETS, and an amazing back with those incredible pleats!!! Everything about this skirt is simply beautiful — thank you for sharing it.
